Red Bull Dolomittenmann
For the first time ever, a Scottish team entered the toughest physical challenge in Europe, Red Bull Dolomittenmann, and came 40th overall amongst a total of 107 teams! Red Bull Dolomittenmann took place on Saturday 8th September 2001.
This competition is extremely physically demanding, requiring four team members to compete in a relay-style competition comprising; uphill running, paragliding, kayaking and mountainbiking. The four Scottish guys who took pride in their nationality by sporting a 'see u jimmy' hat instead of a baton and wearing tartan attire, entertained the crowds and even appeared on a local news channel! They were thrilled with their achievements on the day, coming 29th in the amateur section and 40th overall. Team members Gary Tompsett and Morgan Donnelly are no stranger to Red Bull events, gaining high positions in Red Bull Mountain Mayhem this year, and Morgan actually came 10th in the uphill running category. The sun shone and the crowds gathered in Lienz, a beautiful town high up in the Tirolean mountains, creating the perfect setting for this challenging event. Let's keep our fingers crossed for more.
