After missing Cock Howe on Tues. due to being late back from a school
trip, I decided to drive over to the Langdales this eve to try the
Blisco Dash (5m 2000ft). It was a lovely evening in the Lakes (sorry
no photos to prove this).
65 of us started from the Old Dungeon Ghyll,
the whole race is visible from the start and looked steep so I tried
to go off steady. I failed miserably and went off like a bat out
of hell. By the top of the ascent going over the rock bands near
the summit I was lying in 15th but I noticed a runner way off the
path coming down, the locals fast line I thought. Soon I was flying
down the grass, retracing my steps down the path would have been
much slower, I managed to take 2 places on the descent and another
2 on the road. I was pleased with my position and really enjoyed
the race despite the road section.
After a swim in Great Langdale
beck I drove back to Tyneside admiring the sun setting behind the
mountains in my rear view mirror. Great little race, like a rockier
version of Glaramara. Next race Kentmere if I can get an entry.
