Dear all,
Thanks to those who came today and supported the Thropton Show Fell Race. Good weather and a grand turn out of 97 runners, made for some good competition. First home was Phil Sanderson, followed by Lee Bennett, Phil Addyman and Will Horsley, a splendid team result. James Buis of Heaton Harriers was in the lead just before the top but some route finding errors led to heading off course and finishing well down the field. A well run race by Phil S with a winning margin of 2 minutes. The ladies race was won by Beth Gregory-Smith of Tynedale Harriers, followed by Claire Buis of Heaton and Steph Scott. First local was Paul Appleby and first Junior was Matthew Grundy. First male vet 40 not placed was Adam Fletcher of Berwick and Lady was Claire Bagness of Wooler (Claire I wrongly announced Sue Mitchell, I have something alcoholic for you as well as the teatray, I humbly apologise!!!) V50 was won by Paul Kelly of DFR and Lady was Jan Young of Elvet. V60 was won by Ray Gray and V70 by the venerable Joe Garbarino. Thanks to David Coxon for the excel spread sheet that helped sort the results, Richard Cavner and Garry Owens for marshalling and to John Telfer who drove down from Haddington to sit on the top of Simonside, cheers chaps! and a very special thanks to Kath Dallinson and Sharon Green for the help recording at the finish. Oh and not forgetting Matthew Green for his excellent flag waving and cowpat jumping (or into).
