NFR were represented at todays British and English Championship race at Sedbergh by Phil Sanderson and Gary Jones. Anyone who has done this race is sure to know that its very tough with some steep climbs. Weather today was lovely really good for running. Looking at the start area the quality of the field was very good. The race shot off at breakneck speed for a AL race due to Morgan Donnelly,Lloyd Taggart and Tim Davies.I settled into my own steady climbing mode and up ahead I could see Phil climbing well in about 7th place. Arant Haw summit couldn't come quick enough for me. Generally ground conditions were good for fast running although some of the traverses I didnt like much with my dodgy ankle. There was a steep grassy descent after around 1hr25 mins then a very tough grassy climb with runners dotted all over it. Heading back home I was over the moon to see a runnable track and motored on suprisingly passing Rob Hope and Ian Nixon too top fellrunners. On the final ascent I caught up with Phil and despite a rather timid descent I managed to catch Chris Steele and finished in 34th in 2.21.17. Phil finished 40th in 2.22.41. Really enjoyed the day with the added bonus of an unexpected Craghoppers top as a prize for Borrowdale.
