Once again the weather at Yetholm favoured the runners more than
it did the marshals.........as usual for this race it was "gie
dreich" but at least the visibility was reasonable this year.
A record field of 183 were led home by Jethro Lennox of Shettleston
in a time of 63.24 taking 8 mins off the previous best! Jethro
also led Shettleston to the team prize.
Catriona Buchahan of Ochil HR led home the ladies in a time of 75.26 not only
a record for this direction but Catriona beat the clockwise record (a fact missed
an overworked organiser and results team on the day.........not our biggest mistake
as you will see ) anyway a wee bonus will be on it's way to her.
Unfortunately I presented Carnethy ladies with the team prize when it should
have gone to Northumberland Fell Runners, I have sent my apologies to both teams
and at least Carnethy have the consolation of being 1st Scottish team and a crate
of wine. I will present NFR with their prize at the next big race in the Cheviots,
Windy Gyle on the 26th June the day after the Eildons if anyone is up for a big
weekend it is cracking race.
Thank you to all the landowners, marshals, NRC members who helped on a very busy
day and also to Marshalls Outdoor for continuing to sponsor the race.
A highlight for me was being able to donate £ 500 to the Border Search & Rescue
who have provided cover every year, the generous round of applause in the Wauchope
Hall was not just because of the donation but a genuine show of appreciation
of the work done by all Rescue teams.
