Clear blue Sunny skies greeted the 44 runners who made the trip in red hot weather to Alwinton yesterday for the Alwinton Round. £6 to run 14 miles of splendid Northumbrian countryside or £20+ to run down a dual carriageway to Blaydon - hmmm. Great to see some fellow NFRs I hadnt seen in ages Chris W, Garry, Peter and Paul. The running underfoot was dry and made for good running even the usual boggy section towards then up Cushat Law. Triathlete Harry Coates won convincingly climbing well for a deserved victory. I came 2nd and was happy enough with my run on the comeback trail.I was most grateful to the kind souls who provided drinks on the way round as it was very hot. Bruce Crombie of Alnwick was 3rd and I was pleased to reverse my defeat off him from last weeks Yetholm Hill race. Not sure on further results as had to dash but I gather we won the team prize?
